2021 Chardonnay
Renteria Brown Ranch
OUR STORY
After 50 years of farming vineyards in the Napa Valley, the Renteria family find themselves as owners of Renteria Brown Ranch, a small 40-acre vineyard in Los Carneros. The cool breezes that come in from San Pablo bay make this site perfect for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir due to the slow even ripening that allows for longer hang time. For decades this property was a cattle ranch run by Nadine Brown and first planted in 1992 by Saintsbury with multiple rootstock and clone combinations of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
OUR WINE
Our Renteria Brown Ranch Chardonnay is composed of French clones, Dijon 95 & 96 from the B block, which is the coolest part of the vineyard due to the afternoon shade provided by the redwood trees that line our driveway. This wine offers complex aromas of white flowers, ripe pears and crushed minerals. On the palate, it offers enticing flavors of stone fruits, savory pineapple, and juicy mango.
CRAFTING
The fruit was picked early in the morning on September 21st of 2021, and delivered straight to the winery. This wine was barrel fermented in 40% new french oak and underwent native yeast and native malolactic fermentations to best express vineyard character and aged for a total of 14 months. The finished wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered on February 6th, 2023.
