2020 Chardonnay, Renteria Brown Ranch
From Our Vineyards
To Your Table
Our estate vineyard Renteria Brown Ranch is nestled in the Napa Los Carneros AVA on the southern curve of Old Sonoma Road. The vines were planted in 1992 on various combinations of rootstocks and Pinot Noir clones. For our Tres Perlas Chardonnay, we select contrasting blocks on slopes of haire-loam soils. With the cool breezes coming from the bay this vineyard parcel is idyllic for growing Chardonnay. We utilize a double-guyot system with bilateral cordons and vertical shoot positions for modified trellis management and adjust our crop down to an average of 2.25 tons per acre. The vines are cane-pruned for small berries, tighter clusters, and lower yields.
Native yeast and native malolactic methods are used to express vineyard character.
The wine was aged for 11 months in 40% New French Oak from Francois Freres in Burgundy. The finished wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 11 months in a barrel.
